SUBJECT: Hurricane Preparations and Parking
Dear Miami Parking Authority Customer:
Thank you for participating in our Miami Resident Vehicular Protection (MVP) Program. Enclosed please find the MVP parking decal, valid for one year, which will allow you to park in the designated facility once a Hurricane Watch is announced.
When a Hurricane Watch order is issued by the National Hurricane Center or the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), MPA will continue to operate under normal conditions and hours. An official message describing our operating hours and facility availability will be posted on our homepage and our telephone answering service. Signs will be posted in each facility and a press release will be distributed to local media outlets. We encourage you to visit www.miamiparking.com for the most up-to-date information.
A Hurricane Watch also triggers our MVP program for City of Miami residents. Residents who have already registered for the MVP program will be able to store their vehicles in their assigned garage for protection for the duration of the weather emergency. (To review MVP rules and register for the program, please visit www.miamiparking.com and click the MVP link on the homepage.)
Once a Hurricane Warning order is issued, MPA will determine the appropriate time to close our facilities. The safety of our customers and staff is paramount. Once facilities are officially closed, no vehicles (including MVP program participants) will be allowed to enter. As the storm progresses, facilities will be completely locked down and no entry or exit will be allowed.
This closing information is critical to our monthly customers and those who may have parked with us prior to the posting of closing time signs. Again, our website, www.miamiparking.com, will be the primary source of information. Once the facilities are locked down, they will remain completely inaccessible until four hours after the Hurricane Warning is lifted and the all clear is issued by the Emergency Operations Center. There are no exceptions.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 305-373-6789 x 224. Thank you again for your patronage and your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Miami Parking Authority
